Responses to Painting Trees

These artists all choose to paint in their own ways. Whether they want dark or thin lines to outline everything or even if they want outlines at all. One of the artists used nothing but lines to create his tree. While others used brushes, palate knives, and water colors mixed with lighter fluid.
I would characterize their styles as painters. They all have an idea that they want to convey when painting. One wanted to use charcoal and grey paper while another focused only on the trunk of the tree. Someone saw the tree as a living building and another saw it as having a soul. Eachand every painter had their own idea and because of that, each had their own style of how to go about painting the same tree.

The describe their moves by stating exactly what is going through their heads and how they plan to convey those ideas. Each one had different ideas. Bob Ross thought that each art work was hidden within the paint brushes themselves. He was also very soft spoken and seemed to want to help others with their own paintings. The others had thoughts as to what the tree symbolized and how they wanted to convey that symbol. Each painter said what they thought and how they will get that across, with either, brushes, knives, or water colors.

Questions and Thoughts on WP3

I’m not sure which of the two options I would like to do. Both sound difficult. I’m not sure how to make scholarly articles into works for a 12-year-old to follow and understand. I mean heck, I barely understand those darn things. I might do it on the scholarly articles about biology or maybe psychology. I really have no idea at this moment. I have no idea where to start other than that library thing that De Piero showed the other day for WP2.

I did not write the WP2. I am not happy that I did not do it. I cannot seem to focus on writing and I do not feel like I have the time to do so. I will most likely retake this course next quarter because I have not done any of the work really. I find this class interesting but confusing. I do not ask questions in class because I do not know how to word my questions during the class period. I should probably use the anonymous questions page or ask other students, but I don’t. I am not sure why I do not do so, but I will probably utilize any such forms of communication next quarter when I have the class.
I did not receive comments for I did not do the writing. I believe that the lack of comments is helpful because it shows me that I am very behind and need to work smarter.

I was not in class on Monday May 4. I did not participate in the digital peer review sesh, but I feel that it would be the same as the “old school” way so long as you know how to use the program properly. For me personally, I would have been stuck just trying to figure out how to leave comments without ruining the papers. I feel like I would have gotten very frustrated very quickly because I am one of the worst people when it comes to using technology.

PB1B

In each of the generators, there was a set standard of conventions each genre had to follow. The comic strip consisted of multiple boxes and each one added on to the last. Each box helped the story or joke move forward. The comics were also colorful and pretty short. There was not a lot of text in each box. It seemed to keep text to a minimal amount in every scene. The scenes are either very comedic or very full of action. At times the slides do not make sense, I think that is because the generator is random and is just following the conventions that a comic must have separate scenes, scenes that build on each other, and there has to be colors.
The computer science paper generator also made up stuff that did not completely make sense. Even though it did not make sense, it still looked the part. The conventions of the paper were that it had to have certain parts and titles. All of the papers had a title, abstract, intro, related work, methodology, implementation, analysis and interpretation, conclusion, and references. It is similar to any science piece of writing. The papers also contained lots of graphs and charts to make it seem more scientific and make the data easier to interpret. What also made it seem realistic was the fact that everything was plain and simple. nothing really stood out, nothing had color, everything was black and white and followed the conventions of looking like a boring old research paper.
The final generator was the meme generator. All the memes were funny, short, and had only one or two pictures. The memes use the image to make their “point” and make it in a sarcastic or punny way. All the genres had the same features, just different words or pictures. This is the same for websites that help people to create resumes. In these resume generator sites, one simply puts down the information needed and the website takes what it gets and puts it together following the format of a typical business resume. Another generating website is easybib.com, it helps students to make bibliographies quickly. You simply mark what format you want, MLA, APA, Chicago, or any other, and type in the info asked if you have it. Even with missing information you can still make a decent looking bibliography. By studying these generators, one can better understand what a genre is. If they look at all of these generators, they will eventually notice how every single genre looks the same but if slightly different from one to the next.

About Me

My name is Raul Armando De La Cueva. I was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley ( close to LA ), more specifically, Panorama City. My mom is from Jalisco, Mexico and my father is from Zacatecas, Mexico. I have one younger brother and one younger sister. I attended Granada Hills Charter High School and James Monroe High School where I was a part of the Wrestling team, Cross Country team, and the Track team. Outside of school I boxed at the YO! Valley Boxing Gym. Boxing is my favorite sport, I started when I was five and I earned a national title in the summer of 2013 at the 120 lbs. division. My major is pre-bio and I want to go into Aquatic Bio and later on into Marine Bio. I want to do research in the deep ocean and/or sharks. The ocean is an amazing place that holds the answers to many unsolved mysteries still. My goal in doing research in the deep ocean is to explore and find out what is still left out there. Even in our age of technology and fast-paced research, less than 10% of the ocean has been explored by humans. There is no telling what is out there and I cannot wait to find out. Aside from learning about the ocean and boxing, I also enjoy spending time with my family, the family of my girlfriend, and my girlfriend of course.
